World Geography

There are three countries to the north of Amaranth, across the Dividing Sea. They are closer to what most would think of European -though I stress that Europe does not exist in the world of Amaranth-. While little of the storyline takes place in these countries they can be useful for character histories.

Tamork is a small temperate country with many rivers and lakes and lots of fertile land. The climate is temperate and wet. It supplies most of the grain that Amaranth imports. The capital city is Orcis.

The largest of the northern kingdoms, Istroban commands a mighty army. The country is temperate in the south but full of snowy mountains and forests in the north. Istrobanians are known for their excellent metalworking industry.

Technically not a country, as Istroban has claimed it as its territory, Treban is a small, rugged country high in the mountains of the north. The Trebanese want freedom but are not powerful enough to take it from the Istrobanians. So they live under the unwanted, though fair, rule of the Istrobanians. Treban is very heavily forested and Trebanese wood and woodcarving are among the finest in the world.
