Hair: Cloud gray, coming half way down her back in loose waves, rather wiry.

Eyes: Blue-gray, with darker flecks and framed with dark lashes.

Build: Taller than most (a trait that runs in the family) and of average weight. She has a very slight limp which she steadies with a staff. Her skin is deep brown and weathered with age and sun.

Face: Narrow with high cheekbones and a long nose. She does not look very much like her grandson, Doric, who looks like his grandfather and father.

Dress: Black or gray robes. She is in mourning for her son and husband.

Personality:She's quite peaceful and doesn't fight at all. Instead, she mothers. She absolutely loves children and when there aren't children about well then she'll mother the Rebels instead. If you feel sick you go to Twyla. If you've got an ouch go to Twyla. If you're heart's been broken, you guessed it, go to Twyla.

Talents: Twyla is a skilled healer. She's been learning from everyone from the village midwife (her mother) to traveling apothicaries almost since she was in the cradle. After forty years, she's become an expert in patching people up and dealing with the bumps, scrapes, bruises and worse that happen in a camp full of warriors. Not only can she heal bodies, but she also has a talent for listening so people often come to her when they have problems or just need a sympathetic ear.

History: Twyla was born on a homestead near Wheat, the daughter of commoners sympathetic to the plight of the slaves. Twyla began learning the art of healing almost from the cradle as her mother talked absently to her about whatever draught she was brewing or salve she was concocting. When she was nineteen she married Bereth, a member of the then unorganized Rebels. She spent most of her time in the Free Village. A few years after her marriage she had a son, which she named Beneth. Beneth grew up among the rebels and eventually become the first real leader of them. When Beneth was killed it was Twyla who appointed Wyatt as the new leader and when Doric staggered into camp it was Twyla who recognized him as the son of Beneth. She is well respected in both the Rebel Oasis and the Free Village as a healer.
