Puppet Master: Cretey
Character Name: Jarin
Character Age: 23
Gender: Male
Rank: Noble
Hair: Jarin's thick black hair is tightly curled, and provides quite a
puffy
covering for his head.
Eyes: His eyes are a pale green, with a clear darker ring around the iris.
Build: : Jarin is on the tall side of average. He is built with broad
shoulders,
hips, and thighs, but is flat as a wall in the other direction, and is of an
average weight. His skin is only lightly tanned naturally- not technically a
dark complexion-, but becomes several shades darker in the sun. His arms and
legs are very stout; his muscles are rather showy. That is, while he truly does
work out, his muscles appear even more developed than he truly has physical
strength.
Face: Jarin has a broad, open face. His forehead is not exceptionally
large, and
the curly hair helps to frame it well. His nose is not wider than average, but
begins rather flat against his face up by the eyebrows, which don't show much
expression. His ears are rather prominent. He has a wide mouth, but most of the
time when he smiles, only the right side quirks up. Overall, his face is not
the
most beautiful or attractive, but not unpleasant; in fact, his "average" face
gives the impression that he is unassuming and welcoming.
Dress: Jarin dislikes heavy clothing. He most often wears light cotton
pants in
Personality: Jarin takes most situations as they come, and in general
doesn't
care much about change. He tends to ignore his friend's stands on issues,
avoiding the topic if they conflict directly with his opinions. He is very
social; he generally won't walk up and introduce himself to a stranger, but in
the presence of mutual acquaintances, or under the necessity of getting to know
them, he'll be very friendly. He likes going to parties and hanging out with
his
friends. Even among people he doesn't know, he'll sometimes add the occasional
sarcastic or blunt comment. Jarin loves making people laugh, as long as they
still respect him. Respect is an important issue to him; he always tries to make
a good impression. When in public, he acts confident and respectful; he likes
to
think that, while not all of the other nobles like him, none of them actively
dislike him. Some, however, have the private opinion that Jarin is not all that
deep or serious, and can never accomplish more
than being a pleasant companion.
He doesn't like getting involved with things that are too public, but will step
up if he's in a confident mood, and feels like it won't become too much of a
public ordeal. He likes to be always waiting in the background or crowd, or
sitting at the loud table at parties.
As far as the current political issues in the country go, he doesn't have
any
exceptionally strong feelings; in fact, his family has a reputation of being
rather neutral. He knows all about the true, gritty facts of the gem trade,
and
admits to himself that it would seem unfair from the end of the peasants and
slaves, but has an innate feeling that the system, while not perfect, works,
and
is necessary; and while the nobles aren't entitled to their lifestyle, if they
can manage to maintain it, there's no reason they shouldn't. He is a bit awkward
at the new, rebellious notion of friendships forming with slaves and servants,
but is an affectionate person, and can't help but grow to like them as
Talents: Jarin's good at making friends; he feels that, were he ever in
a Jarin works out and trains a fair amount, and has an average background in
all
forms of fighting. He is particularly interested in wrestling and other
weaponless combat, and practices with his master of arms.
History:Jarin's family is a long-established part of the central city;
they've
lived in the same large mansion for generations. It's a running joke that the
Technar family is fortunate to always have a upstanding son to bring home a
wife. Jarin's mother was a slightly unattractive physically, but very vivacious
young noblewoman from a northern ally. Jarin is a lot like his father, in
temperament. His father, Rosin, was popular in the social circles of the city.
Jarin kept the company of many other noble's children when he was growing up,
as
their parents knew they didn't have to worry about politics. Rosin never
expressed any political ideals, and everybody accepted that he never joined
the
complicated alliance game the nobles played. Jarin's had a multitude of servants
growing up, and never became particularly close to any of them, but generally
had a pleasant working relationship with them.
His father was reluctant to do so, but realized that he must, and began a
small
trading industry, largely managed by his inferiors. Most of the goods were
taken
in and sent to a small group of constanst customers. Some of these noble
families even bought from the Technars just as tradition, or because they
realized that the Technars needed their patronage in order to continue their
pleasant, inoffensive presence in the city. Jarin knows that he will eventually
need to do the same, but is confident he can learn when it's required, and
find
a simple solution. For now, he uses the family money. Jarin's parents are still both alive, and run the household; but as it will
eventually become his, he has complete authority in his house as long as his
decisions don't conflict with his father's. Jarin had a much older sister,
but
she left when he was young, and moved to the capitol city of an allied country.
Her parents let her go with their blessings; it was merely her desire to explore
different places. Every few years, the family vacations to see her, but she
is
not an important presences in Jarin's life. As Jarin was growing up, he was fairly average in the studies his tutor set
him.
When he was in his teens, he went through a period of awkwardness in which
he
was not confident and kept to himself, despite his desire to socialize; he
soon
got over that, and since then, his relationships with people have been the
most
important force in his life.
dark browns or blacks, rather well-fitting instead of baggy. Often he wears
red or light orange silk shirt, with no sleeves whatsoever; over this he'll put
on a leather vest. When the situation is appropriate, he'll wear a leather sash
diagonally across his chest, with various pockets and small items tucked into
it. He usually folds the tops of his light leather boots down.

survival situation, he wouldn't have much trouble with it, but of course he
can't be sure. He's not exceedingly good at trading, as he doesn't have much
interest in objects.
